Ways to be
Community, without the pressure to be anyone but yourself.
About Ways to be
Ways to be is a new series of neuroinclusive community gatherings built around shared interests, connection and belonging.
Rather than expecting people to fit into typical groups, we're designing spaces that adapt to different ways of being.
Ways to be with Nature is our first pilot, coming soon.
Why Ways to be?
Many environments weren't designed with neurodivergent people in mind.
They can feel overwhelming, exhausting and full of unspoken expectations about how we're supposed to act.
Group activities often come with invisible rules:
Join in this way.
Stay for the whole session.
Be sociable.
Make conversation.
Participate like everyone else.
For many of us, those rules just mean masking - hiding who we really are to fit in.
Ways to be is different.
We're creating "should-free" spaces.
Whether you're chatty or quiet, energetic or exhausted, doing your own thing or joining others - be with us in your way.
What's coming
We're currently developing a number of Ways to be gatherings. Our vision includes spaces built around different interests and different ways of connecting. Every programme is shaped alongside our community, built around what people tell us they need.
Already underway:
Our first pilot - Ways to be with Nature.
Ideas we’re exploring:
Ways to be Creative: art, music, making our own things together
Ways to be with Interests: bring your own interests or share in others’
Ways to be Connected: being with others
Ways to be Moving: gentle or energetic, whatever suits you
Help us bring Ways to be to life
Ways to be has been created from conversations with neurodivergent people about what genuine belonging feels like.
We're now looking for partners, funders and community members who want to help make these spaces a reality.
Whether you'd like to join future pilots, volunteer or support the project, we'd love to hear from you.
